Memento mori

A brief slide towards the end.
A glide which juddered and
faulted to my stop.
The start to a new beginning
where I find out if it’s all pretend.

Your salty cheeks will dry
I’ll fade in the memory
and become legend in
old photos that make you cry.

Your heart, so full of sobbing
will let out each day with new
happinesses; the pleasure of
the children.
